Best Motivational Speeches and What They Mean for Men

Get Motivated, Stay Motivated and Learn to be Better

These are some of the better motivational videos from movies out there.  They all send a different message but should serve to motivate you in different ways.  Some men need extra motivation to accomplish their goals and that's fine.  Sometimes you might get in a rut and don't know how to get out well one of these videos may help you or give you that extra edge you were looking for all along.  I try my best to break down the video at the end to extract the useful lessons that are being illustrated in them.

Alec Baldwin in "Glen Garry, Glen Ross"

Many people think this speech is all about greed and the sole pursuit on money.  However, other lessons can be garnered from the epic rant he goes on.  First, is the value you bring to a company.  If you are a salesman then you need to sell you cant just sit around and wait for the sale to fall in your lap.  You need to be proactive in this world.  Nobody gets ahead by just sitting around.  You don't get rewarded by producing nothing.  Same goes for life, you cant sit around waiting for things to happen.  You have to be proactive and make things happen.  Be an asset to your company and be an asset to the world.

Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman"

This is all about character.  The majority of character cant be taught.  Character and good qualities are developed by experience and making tough decisions.  How you respond to those challenges changes you into something else depending on how you choose to proceed.  Are you a man that stands up for your friends, a man that doesn't cower in the face of adversity.  Strength, courage, stalwartness and principle.  These kinds of things can turn a simple man into a great man.

Charlie Chaplin in "The Great Dictator"

The message here is that humans are capable of great things.  We are capable of great evil and great good.  Men that perform great evil are remembered and despised.  Men of great good are remembered and are loved.  Be the man of great good.  There is already so much evil in the world that we don't need any more.  The world needs love, caring and understanding.  Help the people that need and deserve the help.  Try to understand why someone does evil or bad things.  Show them that it isn't necessary and that society doesn't need mindless hate.

Sylvester Stallone in Rocky Balboa

Sylvester Stallone lays this one out clear as day.  Life is full of obstacles, some minor, some major but no matter what you cant allow it to beat you.  You cant just quit when something is tough or when you think you cant do it.  Sometimes you have to try even if you know you cant win.  The act of never giving up even if you lose can still be a win to some degree.  If you allow yourself to be beaten and give up then you will always have that mindset when faced with another problem.  When something or someone hits you, hit back twice as hard.  Giving your best and failing is better than quitting.  Quitting will last forever and you will never know what you could have accomplished.

Final Words

Some may disagree with my breakdown of these videos but they are here to motivate you.  If you find some other lesson in them that helps you than that's great too.  They are all epic speeches and men should be able to find some meaning and motivation in all of them.
