Album Review: Chemical Brothers - Born in the Echoes

The Chemical Brothers have been around a long time, longer than most "Electronica" acts and on July 17, 2015 they came out with their eighth studio album called Born in the Echoes.  The album features 11 tracks and 15 tracks if you get the deluxe edition.  Half the tracks have guest vocalists on them such as Beck and Q-Tip.

"The wait is over at last! The Chemical Brothers are back with their new synthetic type of alpha beta psychedelic funkin’ album, Born In The Echoes!" Chemicalbrothers.com

As far as the music on the album goes it's really good.  It's a little stripped down and they have quite a few quieter songs but if you like the chillout type of music then this is perfect.  The tracks are very progressive, starting quiet and building up towards the end.  One of the better songs on the album is found on the deluxe version which is "Let Us Build a City".  The Chemical Brothers put a good mix of everything into this album which should satisfy most listeners.

That being said I do miss the hard driving dance tracks that they used to produce.  The songs are a little too progressive for my liking as it seems just as they are just getting going the song ends.  I would have preferred the songs build quicker and/or be a bit longer.

"Born In The Echoes features the legendary Q-Tip (Go), St. Vincent (Under Neon Lights), Ali Love (EML Ritual), Cate Le Bon (Born In The Echoes) and Beck (Wide Open) - and all those block rocking’ beats you’ve been craving." Chemicalbrothers.com

The Chemical Brothers after 8 albums still know what they are doing when it comes to building songs.  As they put together a great mix of songs that everyone can take some time with some quality headphones, kick-back and get lost in.
