Album Review: Lindemann

Fans of the German heavy-metal band Rammstein will be happy to know that the lead singer, Till Lindemann has embarked on a solo project.  He has just recently released his first solo album called Skills in Pills under the name Lindemann.  Lindemann has teamed up with Swedish heavy metal musician Peter TÃĪgtgren who produces and plays for several heavy metal and death metal bands.

In a complete turnaround from Rammstein his entire solo album is sung in English.  The songs on the album are explicit in describing his various sexual fetishes which he does for the most part without swearing.  The music is heavy but not as heavy as Rammstein and would be described as more "Industrial Metal" than the heavy metal of Rammstein for its use of synth.  There are 11 tracks on the album and they are all great.  The music has raw lyrics, heavy music and great singing.  Till Lindemann sings with a lot of emotion and inflection in his voice.  The first single is called "Praise Abort" but look for the song "Yukon" which is my favourite off the album.  Other tracks include "Ladyboy", "Fat" and "Golden Shower" which are filled with clear sexual references.

Speaking about the sexual content Till Lindemann says this: “We didn't want to be really nasty or provocative or insulting. [This is] the first time English speakers can understand the lyrics, which is usually impossible in Rammstein. It's very sexual, but that's what I've done in Rammstein for twenty years, it's just that nobody's understood it!"

At some points the lyrics may turn some people off because they are explicit and you may not want to hear him sing about a sexual encounter with a ladyboy or being urinated on.  That being said the lyrics are still creative and the music is great so try not to skip any tracks.

Skills in Pills was released June 19, 2015 and can be bought from iTunes for only $10 which is an excellent deal for a killer album with 11 songs.  Take some time and listen to it all the way through because it really is great.

The Official website for the band is here where you can buy several different versions of the album.
