Something to Pass the Time
Even though this post is titled "for iPad" you can still play them on iPhone if you want. I play them on my iPad since its better for games, especially detailed ones. I'm not going to compile a huge list because people should download a couple and give some time to try them out. If you download ten games at once you'll never get to them. I may update in future posts with another short list.
Transformers: Battle Tactics
This game is straight team on team action, no storylines. Build your team of four Transformers and go against other players team or computer controlled teams. As you build rewards and skill through battles you can advance levels and unlock access to other characters. You can also upgrade your transformers, join leagues, have multiple teams and participate in special events. There are lots of rewards, multiple ranking systems and a wide array of transformers to recruit.
Marvel: Contest of Champions
This is a Street Fighter style beat-em-up game where you recruit and use characters from the marvel universe. The characters have both a level system and a rank system so be prepared for lots of "level grinding". Still, its a fun game with great graphics and sounds. There are a series of missions to go on where you pick a 3 person squad and fight a multitude of other computer controlled characters to earn XP and rewards. There is also a large online community of players you can interact with and many ongoing special events.
Solforge
This is a card based battle game, kind of like Magic or Yu-Gi-Oh. Solforge has a little different flare to it wherein you have a small deck of 30 cards. You can play two cards per turn, after your turn the rest of your hand is discarded. Each card you play is reinserted back into your deck but at a higher level to a maximum of 3. Of course each increase in level makes the card more powerful. There are four different factions you can choose for your deck, you can have two different ones in the same deck and of course there are a ton of different cards to collect. Once you get the hang of it its really fun and has a surprising amount of strategy involved.
Final Words
All of these games are free to play but they also use in game currency that you can buy using real money. That being said they are all enjoyable without spending any money on them. Since I am using an iPad I don't know for sure if they are available on Android or Blackberry.
