Album Review: Disturbed - Immortalized

Back Again After Five Years

For me, Disturbed has been one of those bands that has really put out solid albums everytime.  It seems their sound is their own and they haven't deviated from it by experimenting like other bands do.  They have something that works and are sticking to it.  I feel a lot of bands go "off the rails" when they try to branch out with their music too much.  Disturbed continues to put out great music by with their new album Immortalized, staying true to their music.  This album is no different.

First of all this album is packed with songs.  The basic Immortalized album has 13 tracks but if you buy the deluxe digital edition which is highly recommended you get 3 extra tracks.  There is also an "exclusive" digital bonus track that comes with some packages you can order off their website which brings the total number to 17 tracks.  For today's musical acts that is way above the standard 12 tracks of most albums.  Their first single is called "The Vengeful One" and it's awesome.  The rest of the album is very good.  There are a few slower paced songs that sound like they could be ballads but are still very heavy.

Disturbed also does a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's  "The Sound of Silence" which sadly isn't changed very much.  It's quiet and sung the exact same way as the original.  That's a shame since their cover of "Land of Confusion" by Genesis was great because they made it their own.

Other than that there isn't any real weak points of this album, it's hard, mostly faced paced and the songs have a mix of tempo changes.  This is an album you could listen all the way through and not be disappointed.  The bonus tracks are definitely worth getting too.
